December opened with the 1st Guards Tank Brigade trying to support an 11-mile front, maneuvering its pitiful handful of tanks to cover whichever spot was the most critical. Winter then set in and the Germans were unable to advance any further. The 1st Guards Tank Brigade took advantage of this opportunity and conducted a quick raid against the Germans who were attempting to pull out of the village of Nadovrashye.
